Houlihan peoples his stories with neighborhoods have regulars like "Jimmy MacKinnon" who obviously enjoys being treated to a beer more than springing for one. Or the "Three kings Concert" with Christmas Carols sung by Elvis impersonators Elvis Gambino, Elvis Murphy, and Elvis Washington. Or the story of the immense character called, of course, "Tiny."A great book to have next to the Throne!

As an actor, playwright, producer, newspaper columnist, bar-owner, father of twins, husband of an obviously saintly or insane wife, and sundry other sidelines- both respectable and not- Houlihan is possessed, (well yes, that too), of both the experience and the literary skills to tell ripping good yarns. Each engrossing tale pulls the reader on to the next. This is not a coffee-table book. It's a book you'll actually read, and savor so much you'll never want to lend it out to a friend. Houlihan's deliciously dark worldview can be likened to the Clancy Brothers' famous line, "Always remember the longer you live, the sooner you bloody well die!" We should all know ourselves as well.
I loved it. Laughed out loud at some parts! Holy cow raised my kids in CK so was familiar with the characters. Just ordered book two with the catchy title More Holliganisms. looking forward to it at half the price!!!!!!!
A very funny, clever insightful look on growing up and living on the south side of Chicago. If your Irish or from the south side of Chicago you should pick this one up!
I very much enjoyed reading these stories. In fact I know he has a second book of Hooliganism stories and I cannot wait to continue reading Mike's adventures.
